In 2007, Nnamdi Asomugha founded the Asomugha College Tour for Scholars (ACTS), annual college tour and mentoring program that provides high-achieving high school students of color with the opportunity to visit college campuses across the country.
Over the past three years, ACTS has worked closely with select non-profit organizations in the Bay Area and high schools in the Los Angeles area to identify outstanding and talented honor students to join him on an experience of a lifetime.
Since its inception, 36 students have participated in the program and visited some of the country’s most renowned colleges and universities. Students are selected for the program based on need, but must also meet a minimum GPA and leadership requirements. All ACTS participants who have since graduated from high school have gone on to pursue higher education.
In addition to touring universities, ACTS also emphasizes the life experiences that go hand-in-hand with higher education. ACTS participants meet with current college students, tour the local community, visit historical landmarks and enjoy cultural attractions.
