About the Foundation
“The habit of thinking is the habit of gaining strength.” —African Proverb

Our Vision

The vision of the Asomugha Foundation: Quality educational experiences create the tools for spiritual, economic and social empowerment and progress.

Our Mission

The Mission: Education is the springboard for innovation and growth. Educational opportunities for vulnerable populations, especially those in poverty, are limited. Our mission is to alleviate the consequences of poverty in vulnerable populations by creating the conditions and environment to support educational opportunities.

Brief History and Purpose

The Asomugha Foundation, a 501c(3), was formally established in 2010 with a desire to have positive impact on the disadvantaged youth in the U.S. and the underprivileged orphans and widows in Africa through education and empowerment. However, the history of the foundation can be traced to its core programming which began in 2005 serving orphans and widows in Nigeria and 2007 focusing on youth and their pursuit of higher education.

The Asomugha family, along with several dedicated supporters, has developed priorities and principals to help address the holistic development of those less fortunate.

At the heart of the Asomugha Foundation is the belief that education is essential for success and longevity. Linked to health status and economic security, education is a springboard for innovation and growth across the globe. It is the Foundation’s mission to ensure that those with less means are given the opportunity to obtain a quality education, and thereby transform themselves, their families and communities.

Our Programs

The Foundation comprises two primary programs:

Asomugha College Tour for Scholars (ACTS)

ACTS is an annual college tour and mentoring program that provides high-achieving high school students of color with the opportunity to visit college campuses across the country. ACTS has provided over 150 students with opportunity to tour premier colleges and universities across the United States. In addition these scholars receive dedicated mentoring in leadership and community service.

Orphans and Widows in Need (OWIN)

OWIN provides aid to a growing population of widows and orphans who are among the most vulnerable on the continent of Africa. OWIN works to position widows and orphans for economic success and independence through education, spiritual guidance and vocational training.
